Gas and electrical planning

Start with the selected product size, fuel, burner input and ignition system. Give the product information sheet and manufacturer instructions to your contractor before preparing site services.

Gas supply

A qualified gas professional must size the supply for the burner input, fuel, available pressure and total developed pipe length. Fittings and other connected appliances affect the calculation. The connection size on the feature does not determine the required site pipe size.

The chart is a planning reference with stated supply assumptions. Your installer must confirm the conditions for the actual installation. Modofire does not design the site gas system.

Does the ignition need electricity?

• Push-button spark: battery powered. No site electrical supply.
• Mercury: battery powered with pilot-loss safety shutoff. No site electrical supply.
• Cobalt: 12V ignition supplied through a transformer connected to a suitable 120V supply.
• Platinum, where specified: 24V ignition supplied through a transformer connected to a suitable 120V supply.

A qualified electrical professional must provide the required outdoor-rated service and protection. Confirm transformer placement and the manufacturer's cable limits before running wiring.

Where do the connections enter?

Use a verified drawing for the selected model and size. Utility entry locations can vary. If your information sheet does not show a confirmed entry location, contact Modofire before setting a gas stub, conduit or anchor.

Propane configurations

Use only the tank arrangement specified for the selected product. Internal-tank models have model-specific requirements. A horizontal-tank design requires a purpose-built horizontal propane tank; a standard upright cylinder must not be laid on its side.

Other connected components

Pumps and lighting have their own electrical requirements when selected. Review their supplied specifications separately from the ignition system.
