Our Story
Modofire’s Origin
Modofire grew from my background in architectural signage, lighting, branding, and custom fabrication. For decades, I worked on projects where design, engineering, material selection, and long-term performance all had to work together. That experience shaped the way I approached outdoor fire features.
As outdoor living became more important, I saw a market filled largely with standardized products. Many were treated as patio accessories rather than considered parts of the architecture. I believed fire features could be designed with the same attention given to architectural elements, including proportion, material, finish, placement, and performance.
The first Modofire pieces were developed using fabrication methods and materials I already trusted, including marine-grade aluminum, stainless steel, and durable exterior finishes. The goal was straightforward: create fire features with a stronger design identity and the durability required for demanding outdoor environments.
Today, Modofire is a design-led fabrication company specializing in architectural fire features, fire and water features, and sculptural outdoor elements. We manage the design, engineering, fabrication, and finishing of our custom work while partnering with established American manufacturers for premium burners, ignition systems, and specialized components.
Every piece is built to order. Some begin with an existing Modofire design that is adapted in size, finish, or configuration. Others are developed entirely for a specific residence, commercial property, branded environment, or experiential space.
We view fire as part of the architecture. It can establish a focal point, define an outdoor room, guide movement, or create a natural place for people to gather. The best result feels integrated into the environment rather than added after the fact.
Durability is equally important. We select materials and construction methods based on the application, climate, heat exposure, and expected use of each piece. Our objective is to create work that performs reliably and remains visually relevant for many years.
Modofire works with homeowners, architects, designers, builders, landscape professionals, and hospitality teams throughout the United States. From a single custom fire table to a large sculptural installation, our role is to turn a clear design idea into a well-built architectural feature.
